What customers say?

“ Stopped by after a beach day at Akumal and loved it! Everything by the beach was so overpriced and this was super reasonable and authentic. We got spots on the side patio looking over the town and it was amazing. All the food was delicious! ”

“ We stopped here for dinner after being at the beach. The Guacamole was the best we have had so far! Drinks were also delicious. I had a Pina colada and my husband had a margarita. For dinner we had both chicken and steak Fajitas. Flavor was great and roasted tomatoes were a welcomed addition to the peppers and onions. ”

“ Food, service and atmosphere is great! Gilly and Miguel give you personal attention and to become like friends. Best margaritas in the world! Food is consistent great place to sit and have a beer and look out at the world ”

- Richard Moody -

“ GILLY'S is the best place to eat. Not expensive, the food is great! And the margaritas are fabulous! Very cozy. The outside seating overlooks the street, which allows you to take in the local culture. Service was prompt, and food was hot. It's one of my favorite spots I visited. And I visited it several times during the week I was there. ”

“ We stopped by after exploring Akumal on foot. Fabulous Margaritas made of real ingredients. Gilly the owner, had time for a chat as he was just opening and it was not busy. Great experience. A random moment of happiness and connection. Reminded us of our small town back home in Canada. Sometimes, 2 different world can be closer than we think. We’ll be back eventually. ”

“ I have been patronizing Xminnas Cafe Town for over 2 ½ months now - several times a week. I find that they not only have the best coffee in town, but that they serve a very good breakfast for a very inexpensive price. Myrna, the owner of the cafe, is charming and smart and fun - a lovely person to do business with. David, who sometimes cooks and other times helps in a variety of ways - besides also being a regular customer - is a really great guy who also offers snorkeling and dive classes at the beach. I have been lucky enough to take a snorkel class with him - and plan on doing more. Guadalupe, the primary morning cook and server, is a lovely woman and a wonderful cook. Even though her primary language is Spanish, we are having better conversations every day. The pizza - available after 5, until 10:30 - I enjoy tremendously. The servings are extremely generous for the price. The Wi-Fi also is extremely strong and does a great job of uploading videos to YouTube, which a less powerful Wi-Fi cannot do. The restaurant is very conveniently located as you come up the hill into the pueblo from the big highway. It is clearly patronized by people from the resorts and residences along the beach, as well as people from the pueblo. But there is also a crew of local Mexican folks who hang out sometimes in the evening, who are among the most fun people I've ever had a chance to be around. All the staff here are obviously very well liked by the people from the pueblo, who know them well. I recommend Xminnas Cafe Town very highly. ”

“ What a fun place! Great portions and veggie and vegan options too. ”

“ We stayed in Akumal for the holidays and ate here on the last night. The food was phenomenal. Their signature burger made with a mix of pork, beef, onions and spices is one of the best that I've ever had. The guac was probably the 2nd best that we had on the trip, with a generous enough portion that we had to ask for a refill of chips. The meals for the wife and kids were great too. The restaurant has a nice little balcony where you can take in the views of city. Highly recommend! ”
